TOPIC:What You Want - Christ Offers

 by Rev. Dr. Reg Dunlap

TEXT:Colossians 1:15-20

“For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ (Colossians 1:19, NLT)

I gleaned the title of this message from a little tract Dr. Paul S. Rees wrote years ago with the aim of reaching people with the good news of the Gospel. The truth of that title has not changed over all these years - “What You Want - Christ Offers.”

I want to begin this message with two quotes about Christ. H. G. Wells, the famous historian of the 20th century, wrote: “Jesus of Nazareth is easily the dominant figure in history.” But beside that the words of Blaise Pascal, well-known French philosopher of past years, who said of Christ: “Jesus Christ is the center of everything and the object of everything, and he who does not know Him knows nothing of the order of nature and nothing of himself.”

Without question, no other man in the history of the world has had so many books written about him as Christ. During His life Jesus was the center of every conversation and the most controversial figure of His time. The people were baffled by His words, astonished by His claims, and transformed by His touch. And it is my personal opinion that after one has studied His life, examined His claims, and beheld His miracles, they will come to realize their personal need as Him as Savior and Lord of their lives.

Is it any wonder then that the Apostle Paul declared this about Him: “For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ.” The word “fullness” here means the totality of God in all His powers and attributes was living in Christ. That is why Paul declared in chapter 2 verse 9: “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.” So when we have Christ we have everything we need or will ever want for life.

Whatever you may be searching for today you can find it in Jesus Christ. Let me show you what I mean.
