TEXT:John 1:45

 

“Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote

about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote - Jesus of Nazareth,

the son of Joseph.”

 

Jesus Christ is the most influential person that has ever lived. The entire world for twenty centuries has concentrated its attention on Him. No other man in the history of the world has had so many books written about him as Christ. The Apostle John wrote that “the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written” (John 21:25) about Christ.

 

During His life, Christ was without question the center of every conversation and the most controversial figure of His time. The people were baffled by His words, astonished by His claims, and transformed by His touch. H. C. Wells, the famous historian of the 20th century, was right when he said of Christ: “Jesus of Nazareth is easily the dominant figure in history.” Pascal, the well known French philosopher of past years, was right when he said: “Jesus Christ is the center of everything and the object of everything, and he who does not know Him knows nothing of the order of nature and nothing of himself.” Pascal was right!

 

Let's come now to grips with six different phases of our Lord's life which are so fundamental for us to know.

 

I.

 

Consider, first of all, the REALITY of Christ. Recall again the words of Philip: “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote - Jesus of Nazareth” (v. 45). Philip was absolutely convinced that Jesus was the Messiah of whom Moses and . . .
